Bird Carving # 9 : Kingfisher(Kawasemi)

This is my nineth bird carving work of kingfisher.

Kingfishers are birds of the three families Alcedinidae (river kingfishers),
Halcyonidae (tree kingfishers), and Cerylidae (water kingfishers).
There are about 90 species of kingfisher. All have large heads,
long, sharp, pointed bills, short legs, and stubby tails.
They are found throughout the world.

Bird Carving # 8: Siberian Rubythroat.(Nogoma)

This is my eighth bird carving work of Siberian Rubythroat.

The Siberian Rubythroat is slightly larger than the European Robin.

It is plain brown above except for the distinctive black tail

with red side patches. It has a strong white supercilium.

Bird Carving # 7: Japanese Robin(Komadori)

This is my seventh bird carving works of Japanese Robin.

The Japanese Robin or komadori is a songbird.

Recent research suggests that the East Asian robins

belong into a new genus uniting them with

some East Asian Luscinias such as the Siberian Blue Robin.

Bird Carving # 6 : Japanese Pied Wagtail(Segurosekirei)

This is my sixth bird carving work of Japanese Pied Wagtail.

It nests in crevices in stone walls and similar natural and
man-made structures.
This is a slender bird, 16.5-19 cm in length,
with the characteristic long, constantly wagging tail of its genus.

Bird Carving # 5: Siberian Blue Robin(Koruri)

This is my fifth bird carving work of Siberian Blue Bird on the tree.

Bird Carving # 4 : Tree Sparrow(Suzume)

This is my forth bird carving work of Tree Sparrow.

The Tree Sparrow is 12.5–14 cm long.
The adult's crown and nape are rich chestnut,
and on the white cheeks and ear-coverts there is
a triangular black patch; the chin and throat are black.
Two distinct though narrow white bars cross
the brown wings. In summer the bill is lead-blue,
and in winter almost black.
The legs are pale brown and the irides hazel.
The sexes are practically alike.

Bird Carving # 3 : Riukiu Robin(Akahige)

This is my third bird carving work of "Akahige".

The Ryukyu Robin is a bird endemic to Japan,

restricted to the Ryūkyū Islands.

It is sometimes placed in the genus Luscinia,

but recent research suggests that the East Asian

robins belong into a new genus uniting them

with some East Asian Luscinias such as the Siberian Blue Robin.

Bird Carving # 2 : Grey Wagtail(Sekirei)

This is my second bird carving works of Grey Wagtails.

This is a slender bird, 17-20cm in length, with the
characteristic long, constantly wagging tail of its genus.
It is the longest tailed of the European wagtails.

Bird Carving # 1 : Couplel of Siberian Blue Robin(Koruri)

This is my first works of Siberian Blue Birds under the supervision of
Mr. Osamu Narukawa.

It is a migratory insectivorous species breeding in eastern Asia across to Japan.
It winters in southeast Asia and Indonesia.
